Tameka A. West, Esq. is the President/CEO of The West Legal Group, P.C., a boutique law firm representing individuals and small businesses in all types of employment related actions, including discrimination, sexual harassment, retaliation, reasonable accommodations in the workplace, Equal Pay, FMLA, contractual disputes, severance, non-compete agreements, grievances, appeals of wrongful terminations, administrative hearings before EEOC and MSPB, mediation, and arbitrations. Ms. West also provides consulting services and human resources advice to small businesses and labor unions.

Education & Experience

Ms. West graduated summa cum laude from Clark Atlanta University with a B.A. in Political Science and received her law degree from the University of Iowa, College of Law. Ms. West has practiced law since 2000 with over 17 years of experience in labor and employment law. Ms. West is a member of the State Bar of Georgia, National Employment Lawyers Association, Georgia Association of Black Women Attorneys (GABWA), and a certified mediator in workplace disputes. Ms. West enjoys practicing law and pursues it with engagement.

Prior to starting her own law practice, Ms. West was employed as an EEO Consultant with Bashen Consulting, a preeminent human resources consulting firm specializing in EEO investigations and claims management. As an EEO Consultant, Ms. West was primarily responsible for providing advice and recommendations to Fortune 500 companies, investigating employment discrimination charges, preparing position statements to the EEOC and other state agencies, and representing clients in mediation and before administrative tribunals.

Ms. West was also employed with Federal Labor Relations Authority ("FLRA") as a General Attorney for approximately two years. During her tenure with the FLRA, Ms. West investigated and prosecuted unfair labor practice complaint cases, which included successfully negotiating settlement agreements and assisting labor-management groups with interest-based problem solving through Alternative Dispute Resolution ("ADR").

Notably, Ms. West served as a summer law clerk to U.S. District Judge, Honorable Clarence Cooper where she conducted legal research and prepared memoranda on various issues including employment discrimination and federal jurisdictional matters. During her matriculation at the University of Iowa, College of Law, Ms. West served as Senior Managing Editor of the Iowa Law Review Editorial Board, Volume 85, and assisted the Law Review with a record publication of nine journals.

Ms. West is actively involved in the community and her church, Antioch Baptist Church North. Currently, Ms. West serves as President of her homeowners' association, Advisory Council Board Member for South Atlanta Magazine, and Chair of GABWA's Judicial Review Committee.
